The Free Edition, delivery, and what to do if something breaks.

01What's the Free Edition?
A fully-functional, production-ready .rptdesign artifact with your department's logo, name, and report title baked in. It uploads cleanly to TeleStaff v7.x/v8.x, renders without errors, and looks polished. The configurator currently ships the Free Edition — live KPI customisation is on the roadmap.
02How many Free Edition reports can I generate?
Each account gets one Free Edition per available template. If your department's branding genuinely changes (rebrand, merger, name change), email support and we'll reset your free allowance.
03How fast will I get my report?
Free Edition reports are generated and emailed within seconds of submission — usually before you close the browser tab. Professional Editions are delivered within minutes of payment confirmation; no waiting for business hours, no batch processing.
04What exactly do I receive after ordering?
You receive a production-ready .rptdesign binary file with your department branding, all required metadata, and a TeleStaff-compatible layout. It is ready for immediate upload to your TeleStaff environment with no further modifications required.
05How does the report builder work?
Each Beacon Reports artifact starts from one of our verified master templates — eight production-tested layouts we've built and hardened to upload cleanly into TeleStaff. We then tailor it to your department: logo, department name, report title, and (for Professional orders) your KPI dashboard card selection from our card library. Every file runs through a multi-step governance check — XML schema validation, BIRT render-engine compatibility, and TeleStaff uploader requirements — before it ships. The result is a custom-tailored artifact, not a generic export.
06What TeleStaff versions are supported?
Our reports are hardened for the legacy BIRT engines used in TeleStaff v7.x through v8.x. We deliberately avoid modern JavaScript syntax that causes runtime errors in older TeleStaff environments — a common failure point with generic BIRT templates.
07Can I customise the report logic after download?
The Professional Edition covers branding, metadata, and KPI card selection. If you need custom data-source logic, specialised filters, or new computed columns beyond what the configurator offers, email us at support@beaconreports.ca to discuss a custom engagement.
08Do I need an account, and what email should I use?
Yes — you sign in with the email address that should receive the report file and any invoices. Most departments use a shared scheduling or operations inbox so the artifact stays accessible across staff changes and shifts. Sign-in is by one-time code or magic link sent to that email — no passwords, no separate account to remember. Every report you've ever ordered is always available in your account history — download any past artifact as many times as you need, with no expiry and no per-download limit.
09What if the report doesn't upload correctly?

Every report is pre-validated against BIRT's render engine before delivery. If you encounter an EngineException or XML schema error, email support@beaconreports.ca with your order reference number for a priority repair at no charge.

Easiest way to report it: take a screenshot of the TeleStaff custom report creation screen — TeleStaff lists the error in red above the import box — and attach it to your email. That's much faster than typing the error out, and it gives us everything we need to diagnose it.

10What if I'm not happy with the result?
Every report runs through validation before delivery. If the file fails to upload to your TeleStaff environment we repair it free of charge — email support with your order reference and we'll make it right.
