Quickstart
Your first branded report — ready to upload to TeleStaff — in about five minutes.
Beacon Reports turns a TeleStaff BIRT report into a five-minute, self-service task. You pick a template, brand it for your department, and we deliver a finished report file you can upload to TeleStaff the same shift.
What you'll need
- The email address that should receive the report — usually a shared scheduling or operations inbox.
- Your department logo as a PNG or SVG file (optional but recommended).
- About five minutes.
Step 1 — Sign in
Open beaconreports.ca and choose Sign in. Enter the email address that should receive the report — usually a shared scheduling or operations inbox — and we'll send a six-digit code and a one-click magic link. Either gets you in.
Step 2 — Pick a template
Open the builder. You'll see all eight templates as tabs across the top. The five most-requested are:
- Personal History Dashboard — one firefighter, every shift, accruals, and trade in one page.
- Payroll Summary Report — pay-period totals ready for finance.
- Shift Trades: Requested — what's in flight on the trade board.
- Accruals Stability Suite — vacation, sick, banked time at a glance.
- Operational Staffing & Leave Analytics — staffing levels and leave patterns.
Two of the eight — Personal History and Accruals — ship a Free Edition so you can try the platform with your branding before you pay anything.
Step 3 — Brand the report
The sidebar on the right of the builder has three fields:
- Department logo — drag in a PNG or SVG. We'll auto-size it.
- Department name — the legal name as it should appear on the report cover.
- Report title — defaults to something sensible; change it to fit your reporting voice.
The live preview on the left updates as you type, so you can see exactly what the chief will see before you order.
Step 4 — (Professional only) Pick your KPI cards
Professional Edition orders unlock 25 KPI cards across five sections — Roster, Payroll, Accruals, Trades, and Staffing. Drop the ones you want into the sidebar; uncheck the rest. The free edition skips this step because the KPI cards are locked.
Step 5 — Submit the order
Click Submit order. We'll:
- Send a confirmation email with your order reference.
- For Professional Edition: send an invoice for $100 CAD (plus GST if your invoice address is in Canada). Once it's paid, the report file arrives within minutes.
- For Free Edition: the report file arrives within seconds — usually before you close the browser tab.
Step 6 — Upload to TeleStaff
Save the .rptdesign file we email you, then follow Uploading to TeleStaff. The upload itself is a 30-second job in the TeleStaff custom-reports screen.
